Caught as victims of war, genocide, and other serious disasters, refugees may be forced to live without proper health care, sanitation facilities, or nutrition. Working with a variety of partners throughout the world, we provide expert care to these vulnerable populations.

How are we responding?

Refugees face many challenges. In addition to battling the scars of displacement, war, and trauma, there is great need for basic health services within camps.

We target several important services:

  • Control of communicable diseases, including malaria, diarrhea, acute respiratory infections and cholera
  • Immunizations
  • Malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies in vulnerable populations
  • Psychosocial services
  • Disaster preparedness and risk reduction

Displacement: the new 21st Century Crisis

There are more displaced people now than ever before. A study by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) found that there are more than 60 million displaced people-- surpassing the previous high during WWII.
Thousands of refugees are living in camps in Uganda after escaping brutal violence in their home countries.

How will you respond?
